Praying God’s Name

In times of confrontation I will not be angry or worry. I wait for You to reveal how you work on my behalf. You are LORD who Upholds the Righteous. (God’s name found in Psalm 37:17)

Praying God’s Name

People that should love me seek to disgrace me. I bring the frustration and confusion this causes me to You. Restore me for You are LORD of Order. (God’s name implied in Job 38)

May the loving acts of Jesus living in me linger as fragrant spoils to those in my wake. You are Giver of Spoils. (God’s name found in Isaiah 42:24)

Praying God’s Name

As people try to sabotage my testimony as Your child, I remember that You are LORD who values His name. Whether it be through confrontation or subtle accountability, help me protect my name and witness as “Christian”. (God’s name implied in Isaiah 48:9)

Praying God’s Name

I will not be overcome as peoples’ tongues of knives attack me with lies, hurtful putdowns and wrongful accusations. Because You are Lord who makes (me) a fortified wall of bronze, I will be rescued from hurt. (God’s name found in Jer. 15:20)

Celebrate Christmas

Happy Birthday, Jesus. You are God’s gift to us. And, in turn, the Gift becomes the Giver of good gifts (name found in Matthew 7:11). May I follow Your example.

Celebrate Christmas

I celebrate with the angels, shepherds, wise men, Simeon and Anna. But  more than this, I celebrate Jesus as Mary and Joseph did. They lived with Him. They enjoyed a personal relationship with Him. And I, too, celebrate that kind of relationship with the one we call Jesus.

Celebrate Christmas

Anna was a prophetess. When she saw 8-day-old Jesus, she recognized that He would bring redemption. She celebrated. I, too, celebrate Jesus as our Reconciler (name found in Col. 1:20).

Celebrate Christmas

Simeon was a just and devout man who was promised by Holy Spirit that he would see the Lord’s Christ before dying. He saw Jesus and celebrated the promise come true. Like Simeon, I honor Jesus as Redeemer (name found in Isaiah 47:4) and Victor over Death (name implied in 1 Cor. 15:54).

Celebrate Christmas

The wise men recognized the birth of a king and traveled far to meet Him. They were in focus mode. Nothing would deter them from presenting their gifts. I, too, celebrate Christmas as these men did. I recognize Jesus as the Son of God. I present the most valuable gift that I have–undeterred love. I rejoice that Jesus will come again as¬† King of kings and Lord of lords. (Names found in Rev. 17:14)
