Month of Prayers for Your Clergy – Day 22

October is Ministry/Clergy Appreciation Month. What better way to show your gratitude and support than to pray for those in charge. Pray God’s name and word back to Him. He likes that.

Pastor’s Soul (Will)

2 Chronicles 20:12: We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.

2 Chronicles 20:17: You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you…Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.

Jeremiah 14:8 implied: Deliverer in Time of Trouble

How to pray: This Bible verse was addressed to Judah and Jerusalem when facing enemy attack. God was their Defender, and He defends individuals as well. Pastors are under close scrutiny and continually subject to criticism. Pray that Pastor understands these are ultimately directed toward his Employer – God. Pray that Pastor keeps his eyes focused on God.

Prayer/Blessing for you, the pray-er

Troublesome thoughts flood my mind. Unpleasant circumstances invade my emotions. Yet I have no fear for You are my Deliverer and Savior in Times of Trouble and Distress (Jeremiah 14:8 implied).

Month of Prayers for Your Clergy – Day 20

October is Ministry/Clergy Appreciation Month. What better way to show your gratitude and support than to pray for those in charge. Pray God’s name and word back to Him. He likes that.

Pastor’s Physical Well-Being

2 Corinthians 12:8, 9: Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take away from me (the thorn in my flesh). But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness…”

2 Corinthians 12:9: Sufficient Grace

How to pray:

~Pray against discouragement.

~Pray that, in the midst of any physical affliction, Pastor is reminded that God is in charge and will bring about good to him and glory to God.

~Pray that Pastor is reminded that Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) suffering helps us relate to Him. In Pastor’s suffering he can better relate to those that cross his path.

Prayer/Blessing for you, the pray-er

When fear invades my mind and dread encompasses my emotions, let me remember that I am not alone for You, my God, are my Ever-Present Help (Psalm 46:1).

Why? – Final Part 3

Adam and Eve,

I am Fear. You wasted life. You exchanged the Tree of Life for death. You exchanged reverential fear for the fetters of fear. Fear that will loom over you, engulf you and control you. Fear that brings death to your emotional well-being. Fear that attacks your hope, fellowship with your creator, peace of mind. “Scared to death’ will be a familiar phrase.

I am Language. Your tongue is my instrument. You listened to the foreign words of the Tempter, and now your tongue is split.

  • Your mouth will speak truth and lies.
  • Your words will bring healing and hurts.
  • Your voice inflection will bring favor and fright.
  • Your speech will express thoughts of obedience and disobedience.
  • Your vocabulary will build up and tear down.
  • Your grammar will imply agreement and argument.
  • Your body language will show respect and disrespect.

I am Death. You introduced me into the world, and I am sticking to you like glue. Out of me comes life. Out of me is birthed Fear. Out of Fear will be many off-springs. Emotional Giants that you – on your own – won’t be able to control. Thank you, Adam and Eve, for my induction into the Hall of Pain.

Read about the different Emotional Giants and how to kill them God’s way. The Giants of Depression, Anxiety and Hopelessness are now available on Kindle and paperback. Check with Amazon for the books written by Betty L. Wade and Darlene M. Wetzel. The Giants of Fear and Confrontation are currently in the making.

Why? – Part 2

Adam and Eve, why did you squander life? You sinned, and we became your cover-up. You plucked us off our tree. That was sure death for us. You sewed us together that you might have temporary clothing. What good are fig leaf garments? Why weren’t you content with what God provided for you? Your act of eating the forbidden fruit exposed the attitude of your heart. You were left naked, vulnerable. Why?

Adam and Eve, why didn’t you respect God’s command? Your disobedience cost us our lives. Our blood – our life – was spilled out so you could have a more permanent covering for your bodies. No longer are we free to enjoy God’s world. Because of your action, our life-style now includes fear. Fear of people waiting to kill us for our meat and skins. Fear of other animals who will fight us for food. Why? Was wanting your own way worth it? Not to us, the animals!

Adam and Eve, the beauty and benefits of me – Garden of Eden – were lost because of your willful disobedience of God’s instruction. You changed the reason I was created. Your stubbornness to live life YOUR way introduced fear. My trees were meant to provide you with food and shade. You changed it into a place for hiding because you were afraid to be seen by God. Why?

Praying God’s Name and Will for Israel

LORD, You are the Shepherd of Israel(Name: Psalm 80:1). You desire peace for Your people (Will: Ezekiel 34:28).

~Those that live in fear of perhaps being the next victim of a terrorist attack,

~those who are afraid because resources are not enough to provide for basic needs,

~those who are intimidated by verbal threats,

let them turn their eyes and hearts to You.

Praying God’s Name and Will for Israel

You are Lord Who Gives Wisdom (Name: Proverbs 2:6). Give Israel’s leaders a strong desire to seek Your wisdom. Give them discernment beyond their understanding that much trouble would be avoided. Reveal the secrets of the darkness that Your people might be rescued. Let them not trust in their own understanding but only in You. Let them know when to speak and when to keep still. Let their trust and confidence be in You (Will: Psalm 115:9) for that will release them from fear of hostile men and troubled situations.

Praying God’s Name and Will for Israel

LORD, You are Path Maker (Name: Isaiah 43:16). As Your children travel through waters of weeping, streams of stressful conditions, fire of burning insults and flames of prejudice, remind them that You are with them, that they are not to fear (Will: Isaiah 43:2,3). Let them see the road that You provide. Let them always keep their eyes on You, looking to see how You glorify Yourself and benefit themĀ  in the midst of their troubled times.

Praying God’s Name and Will for Israel

Let Your people remember Your past deeds of deliverance that their fear be turned into praise. You called forth the enemy’s greed and jealousy as ambushes against each other (2 Chronicles 20:22,23). Your weapons are limitless.

LORD, let Your people understand the battle is Yours, not theirs (2 Chron. 20:17). Receive the honor when nations realize that You fight for Israel (2 Chron. 20:29).

Let hearts be still as they watch You work on their behalf, for You are Silencer of Enemies. (Name implied in Psalm 143:12).
