Month of Prayers for Your Clergy – Day 11

October is Ministry/Clergy Appreciation Month. What better way to show your gratitude than to pray for those in charge. Pray God’s word and name back to Him. Also included today is a prayer focus for the congregation.

Pastor’s Spirit

Isaiah 57:15: For this is what the high and lofty One says – He who lives forever (inhabits eternity) whose name is Holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite (penitent) and lowly (humble; free from self-assertive pride; not pompous) in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Psalm 5:12: LORD Who Encompasses (surrounds, covers) the Righteous with Favor

How to pray: that Pastor’s spirit would be revived as he:

~basks in the Lord’s high regard and value of him;

~shows reverential fear as he receives the meaning of God’s revealed word;

~enjoys renewed freedom in serving the Lord.

Prayer for the Congregation

Job 34:21, 22: (God’s) eyes are on the ways of men; He sees their every step. There is no dark place, no deep shadow, where evildoers can hide.

Romans 2:16: Judge of Men’s Secrets

How to pray:

~that people will exercise complete honesty

~that God would break down the walls of secrecy

~that eyes would be opened to see their need for the Lord to rule in their lives

Prayer/Blessing for you, the pray-er

May I remember today to honor You with reverential fear deserving of One who is Enthroned in Heaven (Psalm 2:4).

Why? – Final Part 3

Adam and Eve,

I am Fear. You wasted life. You exchanged the Tree of Life for death. You exchanged reverential fear for the fetters of fear. Fear that will loom over you, engulf you and control you. Fear that brings death to your emotional well-being. Fear that attacks your hope, fellowship with your creator, peace of mind. “Scared to death’ will be a familiar phrase.

I am Language. Your tongue is my instrument. You listened to the foreign words of the Tempter, and now your tongue is split.

  • Your mouth will speak truth and lies.
  • Your words will bring healing and hurts.
  • Your voice inflection will bring favor and fright.
  • Your speech will express thoughts of obedience and disobedience.
  • Your vocabulary will build up and tear down.
  • Your grammar will imply agreement and argument.
  • Your body language will show respect and disrespect.

I am Death. You introduced me into the world, and I am sticking to you like glue. Out of me comes life. Out of me is birthed Fear. Out of Fear will be many off-springs. Emotional Giants that you – on your own – won’t be able to control. Thank you, Adam and Eve, for my induction into the Hall of Pain.

Read about the different Emotional Giants and how to kill them God’s way. The Giants of Depression, Anxiety and Hopelessness are now available on Kindle and paperback. Check with Amazon for the books written by Betty L. Wade and Darlene M. Wetzel. The Giants of Fear and Confrontation are currently in the making.

How Did You Feel…? Part 3 of 5

How did you feel, Malchus, servant of the High Priest…

when Peter cut off your right ear? Were you relieved that you were not dead? Were you grateful when Jesus rebuked His disciple and restored your ear? Did you recognize who Jesus was or did you believe that the miracle was owed you? Did you act with the other servants when they struck God’s Son with the palm of their hands? Or did your miraculous healing help you to hear God’s voice speaking salvation to your soul?

How did you feel, O High Priest…

when your servant returned after Jesus was taken into custody? When he told of Peter cutting off his ear and of Jesus’ kindness to make it once again whole, were you gripped with reverential fear or did it harden your heart with hatred?

Part 1: How did you feel, O Earth…O Stones…O Alabaster Box blogged 3/27/13

Part 2: How did you feel, O Garden of Gethsemane…Peter, James and John…blogged 3/28/13

Part 4: How did you feel, O Cross…O Sign…

Part 5: How did you feel, O Priests…O People of the World…

Praying God’s Name and Will for Israel

You are a God deserving of our reverential fear. Give us a spirit of repentance that all may pursue righteousness (Will: Proverbs 15:9) and serve You with single mind and fervent heart. Sins hidden in darkness are not concealed from You. Darkness and light are the same to You (Psalm 139:12). Be our Examiner (Name: Job 7:18) and Deliverer (Psalm 79:9) for the sake of Your great name.

Praying God’s Name

May I remember today to honor You with reverential fear deserving of One who is Enthroned in Heaven. (God’s name found in Psalm 2:4)
